Impersonal, Rude and a horrible banking experience
One of my clients paid me with a Suncoast Credit Union check, so I went to the branch on Del Prado Blvd. to cash it. What would have been a simple transaction in even the largest banks became simply horrible in this institution. First, there is no face-to-face interaction with the tellers. The lobby is filled with ATM machines with little screens that tellers somewhere in the back (I imagine) can turn on and off at their pleasure. I am not sure if i have ever seen anything this impersonal and unwelcoming in my life. I cannot believe that people choose to bank here on a regular basis. Secondly, to cash a check as a (thank god) non-member, you must provide the robotic teller with your social security number and other personal information so that she can assign you a "non-member ID number." When i told her that was unreasonable, she simply shut off the screen, sent my check back through the pneumatic tube and refused to come back onto the little monitor. At that point, I assumed that I had been dismissed. Since there were no human beings available to provide customer service at this sad excuse for a bank, I chose to leave, but I certainly intend to spread this story everywhere I can. There are obviously many better banks than this in the area and people should be aware of just how horrific this bank is.
